Chateau Laroque has been a family property for several generations, passed from father to son.  The vineyard is situated on the hilltop of gravel which is the twin of Chateau du Tertre, the highest point of the village of Arsac.  The soil of Margaux appellation are very gravelly and pebbly, thus the name of Chateau Laroque translating to “the rock”.

The terroir is made up on gunzian Garonne pebbles rich in shingles.  It is poor quality soil & very hot which is good for growing vines & reaching full grape maturity.  Numerous Grands Crus have vines which are neighbors to Chateau Laroque:  Chateau du Terte,  Prieure-Lichine, Issan, Giscours, Brane-Cantenac.

Tasting Notes

A deep color & sparkling with youth.  Clean and typical noise of ripe red fruits with a hint of undergrowth.   A young wine and many years to age, is very drinkable now, well structured palate and well integrated tannins.  A pleasant  and elegant finish with hints of  dark summer berries, liquorice, earth tones and spice. Aged 12 months French oak.

Pair this elegant Margaux with rich blue cheese appetizers, roasted pheasant or wild game, red meats grilled or broiled.

Serving at  17C.
